Saving places

How do I save a post from Instagram?

Tap the share button on the post or reel, tap Share to…, and pick Elsewhere. Not in the list? Scroll the row of apps to the end, tap More, and add Elsewhere. It works the same from YouTube, TikTok, Safari and Photos. You can also copy a link and use ＋ → Import reel → Paste.

It didn't find every place.

Elsewhere reads the caption and, where it can, the post's pictures. When a post's places are only spoken in the video, tap Add the video: save the reel from Instagram (••• → Download) or screen-record it, then pick it. Places it isn't sure of are marked, and ones it couldn't find are listed so you can search for them.

Why does a long post take a few minutes?

Each place is looked up on Apple Maps, which answers about one search a second. Places appear as they're found, and reading carries on if you leave the app.

Plans

Will Elsewhere change my plan?

A new trip starts as a draft that Elsewhere lays out as you add places. The first time you change the days yourself — move a place, pick a night, or tap Keep this plan — it becomes yours, and nothing moves unless you move it. New places go on their best day without shifting the rest. If you'd like it laid out afresh, tap Rearrange for me; you'll see every change and can put your plan back.

Why does it say a day won't work?

Usually a long drive, a drive into the dark on hill roads, or a place that's closed that day. Where there's a sure fix — moving one place, or sleeping somewhere else — it's offered on the day.

On the trip

How do reminders and arrival notes work?

On a trip with dates, Elsewhere can remind you the evening before each day, before flights and trains, and when a permit is due — and show a note as you arrive somewhere, like your hotel's check-in time. Arrival notes need location “While Using the App”; your location never leaves your iPhone.

What if there's no signal?

Your plan, bookings and documents are on your iPhone. With Pro, each day's map is kept too: tap Save under Maps for no signal before you go.

Sharing

How do I send the plan to friends?

On the trip, tap the share button: a day-by-day PDF, a link anyone can open in a browser (Android too), or a QR code another iPhone can scan to get its own copy.

Your data

Is my data backed up?

With Sync with iCloud on, your trips and saves are kept in your own iCloud and appear on your other devices. Deleted trips stay in Recently deleted, at the bottom of Trips, for 30 days.

Elsewhere Pro

What does Pro add?

Every save read with no monthly limit, as many trips as you like, plans and pictures without “Made with Elsewhere”, and day maps that work offline. Choose yearly, a Trip pass for one trip, or lifetime.

How do I restore or cancel?

Restore: Settings → Elsewhere Pro → Restore purchases. Cancel the yearly plan: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
